Frank Mendoza Obituary

Frank O. Mendoza, 78, of Gering, died Friday, May 9, 2008 at Regional West Medical Center with his family by his side.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, at Christ the King Catholic Church with Father Gerald Harr officiating. Interment will follow at the Bayard Cemetery in Bayard.
A vigil service will be Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Gering Memorial Chapel.
A memorial has been established to Frank Mendoza. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.geringchapel.com. Gering Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Frank was born on June 14, 1929, in Pauline, Ohio to Blas and Anita (Ornelas) Mendoza. He lived in Childress, Texas before moving to Bayard 1951. He married Alicia Garcia on Oct. 19, 1951. He and his family moved to Gering in the 1970's and Frank worked at Lockwoods for numerous years then retired.
He enjoyed fishing, barbequing, dancing and music. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren and constant companion Suzie. Frank loved life and lived to the fullest. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his children, Gloria Mendoza of Scottsbluff, Albert (Kathie) Mendoza of North Platte, Rose (Herb) Richter of Mitchell, Mary (Curt) Holmquist of Chadron, Mary Ann Mendoza of Scottsbluff, Frank Jr. (Anna) Mendoza of Minatare and Louis Mendoza of Gering; brothers and sisters, Ben (Aurelia) Mendoza of Hartford, Mich., Mary Pena of Ulysses, Kan., Blas (Nancy) Mendoza of Kearney, Charlie Mendoza of Garden City, Kan., Delia (Elias) Quintero of Vernon, Texas, Lupe Mendoza of Gering, Elvira (Sergio) Tristan of Phoenix, Ariz., Robert (Charlene) Mendoza of Gering, Molly (Ruben) Magdaleno of Phoenix, Ariz., Mary Helen (Armando) Davila of Lubbock, Texas, brother-in-law, Pedro Garcia of Scottsbluff; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Esther (Sylvester) Savala of Gering; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alicia; infant son, Jerald; sister, Angelita; brother-in-law, Leon and nephew, Leon, Jr.
