Harold Reichert Obituary

TORRINGTON - After a hard fought battle with cancer, Harold Reichert, 76, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009 at his home in Torrington.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 14, at The Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff, with Pastor Mark Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the West Lawn Cemetery in Gering, with the Nebraska National Guard providing military honors.
Memorials in his name may be made to Prairie Haven Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be held at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff on Sunday, Sept. 13, from 1 – 4 p.m. Friends can sign the online condolence book at www.jollifefuneralhome.com.
Harold was born to the late Henry and Christina (Steban) Reichert on Dec. 20, 1932 in Mitchell. He grew up and went to school in the Mitchell Valley surrounded by the warm embrace of his nine brothers and sisters. When called in 1953, he proudly served the U.S. Army in Germany until his discharge in 1955 at the rank of corporal. He married Virginia Schleining in June 1960. For the next 49 years, they farmed and raised their two children together in Torrington. A respected farmer and cattleman, his farm, time with his children and grandchildren, and a well-paying slot machine were his greatest joys.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia; daughter, Kimberly, of Laramie, Wyo.; son, Jeffrey, and daughter-in-law, Debi, of Torrington; beloved grandson, Austin, and granddaughter, Taylor, also of Torrington; sister Lydia Schildt of Bridgeport; brother, Henry and his wife Gloria of Torrington; brother Harvey and his wife Alice of McGrew; sister, Loretta Frick and her husband Robert of Greeley, Colo.; brother, Fred and his wife Delores of Torrington; brother John and his wife Linda of Soldotna, Alaska; and a large extended family of many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His parents and his sisters Irene, Clara, and Helen preceded him in death.
