Iola Evertson Obituary

Iola Evertson, 92, of Kimball, died at the Kimball County Manor on Fri-day, Sept. 2, 2011.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Kimball with pastor Lynda Parson officiating. Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1 until 6 p.m.
Memorial donation may be given to the Kimball County Manor or the Kimball Health Services. Online condolences for the family may be given at www.cantrellfh.com. The arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Iola Evertson was born in Crab Orchard, Neb., on December 30, 1918, the daughter of Angus and Golda (Herndon) Halcomb. She attended and graduated from the Filley High School. She attended Peru State Teachers College and received her teaching certificate. Iola moved to Kimball where her brother LaVerne lived. She taught school for a short time at District 35 during the fall of 1941. She met Ora Evertson and they were married in Reno, Nev., on October 26, 1941. They moved to Redwood City, Caalif., and lived there for a short time before Ora was drafted in to the US Military during WWII. They returned to Kimball County and farmed until his death in 1995. Iola moved from the farm to Kimball in 2000 and lived here until the time of her death. She en-joyed traveling and shopping. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Homemakers Club and PEO Chapter GN of Kimball.
Survivors include her sons Don (Alice) Evertson of Kimball, Edwin (Gail) Evertson of Littleton, Colo.; daughter Janeen (Glenn) Robinson of Bethel Springs, Tenn.; grandchildren Dana Showalter, David, Kirk, Paul and Ross Evertson; and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother LaVerne Halcomb, sister Ruth Bowers, infant daughter Patti Kay Evertson and grandsons Scott Alan Booker and Benjamin Eugene Evertson.
