Clifford Mitchener Obituary

Clifford Winthrop Mitchener, born January 25, 1933 in Oktibbeha County, Mississippi to the late Jesse W. Mitchener and Odel Whitt Mitchener, passed away on October 24, 2024 in Starkville, MS.

Clifford graduated from Starkville High School and Mississippi State University. He then joined the National Guard and was activated during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Port Authority for over 30 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Anne Owens Mitchener; his son, Larry Mitchener; and his sister, Carolyn Lee.

He leaves behind his wife, Joyce Mitchener; his daughter, Nancy Regan; his five granddaughters, 11 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.

He was loved and will be missed by all.

There will be a visitation on Thursday, October 31, 2024 from 9:30-11:00 A.M. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS, with the service immediately following.
