Union Ironworker, "Family Was His First Love, Golf Was Second"
Patrick Joseph Dufficy, 92 years old, of Tinton Falls, NJ, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023. His loving wife Norah passed away in 2021, married for 58 years. Norah was the love of his life, and they are now reunited together dancing with all smiles.
Pat is survived by his son James, Daughter-in-law Suzanne, three grandchildren Jack, Finnbar, and Shea, and his brother & best-friend Tom. He was predeceased by his parents John and Jane, his brothers Michael, Oliver, Jack and sisters Kathleen, May, Martha, Francis, & Eileen. Pat was one of 10 and always told everyone he was his mother's favorite, but all of them felt the same way.
Pat grew up in Tulsk, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. He worked as an Ironworker all over Europe and Africa. He and Norah came to New York in 1968, where he became a very proud member of Ironworkers Local 40 NYC. Pat helped build the NYC skyline and was beloved by all who worked with him. Always quick with a joke and a twinkle in his eye.
Pat, Norah, & James lived in West Orange, NJ. He was active in various Irish clubs in Essex County and Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Beside his family being his first love, Golf was his second. He was an avid golfer, never taking the game or himself too seriously. His buddies at Tri-County, East Orange, and Bey Lea Golf Clubs always enjoyed his presence. He will always be remembered with a smile.
His grandchildren were his joys in life. He loved nothing more than being with them and watching them play a sport, especially if it was golf. The most memorable event they shared together was witnessing Pop Pop's Hole in One on August 29, 2014. This day will never be forgotten and will always be cherished.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023 from 4-7 pm at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad Street, Red Bank, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 10:15 am at Saint Leo the Great Church, 50 Hurleys Lane, Lincroft, NJ. Entombment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Alzheimer's Association.
