Captain Edward H. Meier III

November 3, 1956- December 24, 2016

Captain Edward H. Meier III, born on November 3, 1956, peacefully passed away on December 24, 2016 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas surrounded by the love from family. Throughout all of the success and achievements in Eddie's life, aviation and family were his biggest and most prestigious accomplishments. While Edward loved his career as a pilot, flying was also a lifestyle that he shared with friends and family. From the beginning he was raised with an interest in airplanes and aviation by his father, Edward Harvey Meier Jr. and mother, Jerri Weaver Meier. As a pilot since the age of 15, Edward was honored to be a Captain for Southwest Airlines for 30 years. He spent all leisure time building and flying his airplanes while raising his family in the world of aviation. Through his airline career, Ed was able to meet the love of his life, Gina Knight Meier, with whom he shared 21 years of cherished marriage. He is survived by his wife Gina, daughter, Skyla Ryan Meier, two sons, Taylor Edward Meier and Chancellor Glen Miller, grandson, Mylan Glen Miller, mother, Jerri Weaver Meier, and brothers, Butch Meier and Perry Meier. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Harvey Meier Jr.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you keep Ed's vision alive by giving back to St. Jude's Medical Foundation with a contribution to their mission, or volunteering at the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Another foundation that is of importance to the Meier Family is the American Liver Foundation where they strive to research all aspects that contribute to or prevent liver disease.

This is a special time of year. It's a good time of the year to remember those close to us that have left on another journey. The Meier family is part of the Price extended family. Unique and special people leave lasting impressions and effects on those that they come into contact with. There will never be another like Eddie.

What a great guy Eddie was. He was a true friend to our family. My brother John and I had many great times with Eddie and Perry. Ed had a great personality and tremendous sense of humor. When I was in the flying business, I would ask other crews who worked for the same company as Ed if they knew him. Most knew him and would laugh and tell their stories about Eddie's gags. He was a great pilot and friend. I remember the many fly-ins that we attended with him- Eddie was always
entertaining us. There will never be another man like Captain Ed.

Eddie was a good friend. He was part of our extended family. A great guy and a super pilot.
Didn't get to see him much in recent years, but have many fond memories of Ed and Perry. Captain Ed was a fun guy full of spirit- truly an old school aviator. My brother and I had many great times with Eddie. I will truly miss him.
Happy flying my friend,
and don't let your foot slip off the rudder when you are rolling that close to the ground,
or ride out on the struts of that J3 cub when the air is that gusty!
