Mr. Setzer had a huge impact on my son. He was Kyle's 5th grade teacher during a brief stay at Alt Campus, and he would hunt for frogs with Kyle at recess. He had some meaningful conversations with Kyle about faith in a world where that could have gotten him in trouble. He will be missed.

I will miss Mel at Puster Elementary. He would always have great stories to tell in the mornings when he would sub. He loved his family and his dogs. He was a sweet man.

Mel was a sweet, Christian man. I met him in 2005 when he began subbing at Lovejoy Elementary. He was full of stories about his dogs, tennis and his faithful walk with Lord. Mel was a great role to many, including to me.
He will be missed!!

Mel- While our time knowing each other has been short, I enjoyed our talks about sports. Especially football. Your kindness and personable personality was always refreshing when we ran into each other. You will be missed.

I have very fond memories of Melvin growing up as cousins in Denison, Texas. We lost contact for a number of years but re-connected as adults. He was one of the most caring people I have ever known. He cared deeply for his family and all the children he had an opportunity to influence over the years through his teaching in public school. I will miss our phone calls to stay in touch. To Juenessa and family, what a blessing to have had such a Christian gentleman for a father and a grandfather. I was privileged to be related and call him my friend.

Sweet Mel. So many fond & funny memories going up with Juenessa & Chad in your home. It started getting expensive for a teenager to leave a quarter on the toilet for its use. You will always have a very special place in my heart. If you could please have heaven allow this yankee in & I will see you soon.

I had the pleasure of working with Mel off and on for 10 years. He always made an effort to stop by the art room and discuss student art displays or the work of well-known artists. He seemed to thrive on learning about the techniques and the history behind the work. We traded stories of life in Denison and McKinney. His sense of humor always brought a smile to my face. He had a passion for life, learning, and the students he serviced. I will miss you, Mel. May your family and friends be comforted in knowing that you are no longer suffering from illness and that are with God.
