Charles Moore Obituary

CHARLES C. MOORE Charles C. Moore, Jr., known as Charlie to his friends, and Daddy to his daughters, died at home on October 27, 2015. He was born on February 16, 1935, in Tupelo, MS, the son of the late Charles C. Sr. and Elizabeth H. Moore and moved to Rockingham, NC as a child. Mr. Moore served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Taussig as a radio operator during the end of the Korean War. After leaving the Navy, he attended Wilmington College and N.C. State University before going to work for Henry Von Oesen & Associates. He was also a self-employed registered land surveyor and was an active member of the North Carolina Society of Surveyors. In later years, he enjoyed assisting with the Trig Star Program Contest, an annual high school mathematics competition sponsored by the National Society of Professional Surveyors. Mr. Moore enjoyed old-time country music and folk songs. He was a fan of both the N.C. State Wolfpack and the Washington Redskins. He also had a wonderful sense of humor and was well liked by everyone who knew him. Mr. Moore is survived by his wife of 46 years, Edna, and his daughters Jan Moore, Carol Norvell, and Cristy Moore. He is also survived by three sisters, Metta Hull of Southern Pines, NC, Nancy Myers of Shallotte, NC and Barbara Kelly of Cape Coral, FL, as well as several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 30 at 10:00 a.m. at Andrews Valley Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 conducted by Rev. Dr. Thomas C. Barnett.
