SWANSBORO, NC -- Christopher "Chris" Ray Jacobs, 54, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2008, just several days after his birthday.
Preceding him in death, his father Morris Jacobs, Swansboro, NC; Maternal Grandmother, Vernon Sampson Freeman, Lumberton, NC; Paternal Grandmother, Idell Smith Jacobs, Bolton, NC.
Chris leaves behind his son, Christopher M. Jacobs, Swansboro, NC; his mother Doris Sampson Jacobs, Swansboro, NC; sisters, Barbara Jacobs Howerton, Swansboro, NC; Sharon Jacobs Murray and husband Rufus, Cedar Point, NC; brothers, Wilbert Jacobs and girlfriend Beth Peiffer, Jacksonville, NC; Perry Jacobs and wife Evelyn, Stella, NC; Dale Jacobs and wife Vicky, Greenville, NC; nieces and nephews, Clark Howerton, Sylva, NC, Ashley Howerton, Greenville, NC, Mariah and Mason Jacobs, Stella, NC, Sam and Matt Jacobs, Greenville, NC; his former wife and friend, Vickie Victor Snead.
Chris was born on October 23, 1954, in Lumberton, NC. During his childhood years he lived in Elizabeth City, Bolton, and Wilmington, NC. Later he also lived in Jacksonville, and Swansboro, NC. He was a graduate of New Hanover High School, Class of 1972, Wilmington, NC. He was also a graduate of UNC-Wilmington, NC and The Ringling School of Art, Sarasota, Florida.
Chris was a construction estimator and an artist. He previously worked for East Coast Construction, Jacksonville, NC, which was his father's company. He was also the owner of Jacobs Builders, Inc., Hubert, NC. He was currently working for C.R. Peele Construction, Jacksonville, NC.
Chris loved the beach. He was a great storyteller, he loved sharing stories of his family and friends. We, his family will miss him. . .
