I met Dan when I started work at UNCW back in 1986. We shared a lot of experiences and a lot of laughs. I watched his girls grow through his stories and he was also always so kind to ask about about my son. Dan was one of the kindest persons that I have ever known. My last image of Dan is at one of the Seahawk games...go Hawks, and I will continue to seem at the games. Miss you Dan.

I always enjoyed getting a Financial Reporting lesson from Dan while he was at UNCW. He was always patient, kind and witty. My prayer is that the family will take some comfort knowing how he touched so many people with these traits.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Dan and I grew up together as we lived across the street from one another on Dixie Ave. I've spent many, many hours with Dan and a bunch of a street full of boys playing ball or just hanging out .They didn't come any better than Dan. He was like a brother in those days and I was blessed to have him as my friend.

The world is a sadder place today with the passing of my good friend Dan Geddie. He and I were colleagues at UNC Wilmington, where he was held in the highest esteem and so well liked, and fellow members of the Cape Fear Civil War Round Table. In fact, Dan was a founding member of the CFCWRT and invited me to be the organization's first speaker back in 1994. He loved Wilmington, UNC and the Tar Heels, UNCW and the Seahawks, history (mostly Civil War and local), and especially his family and friends. But most of all, Dan's family and friends loved him. Count me among Dan's biggest fans. I'm going to miss you, buddy, but hope to see you again by and by.

I did not have the privilege of meeting Dan, but I followed his illness t h r o u g h my friendship with his wonderful wife Beth. She demonstrated a daily devotion that was remarkable to follow. Dan received excellent c a r e, benefiting from b e t h s experience as a registered nurse. The ladies at the pool are all of the same mind, and that is, if you ever have a major illness, be sure Beth is in your corner. She was the devoted wife and personified the oath, in sickness and in health till death do us part. My dear friend Beth, k n o w that how you handle your daily life was my inspiration 4 trying to do better job with mine. Having your friendship is my privilege.
