Edward Gilbert Obituary
Wilmington - Edward "Ed" Gilbert died Tuesday June 22, 2021.
He was born in Pennsylvania March 15, 1941 the son of the late Paul and Sylvia Blowe Gilbert.
He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and was known as the "Mayor of Carolina Beach Boardwalk."
Ed completed school despite Cerebral Palsy, his mother making him as independent as possible, and worked in Wilmington as an accountant. He believed strongly in the power and beauty of numbers and geometry. Time, correct time, was his passion as he always made sure the clocks at Temple Baptist showed the right time. Numbers gave way only to music and his spiritual relationship with his Lord.
A Memorial service will be held 3 pm Wednesday June 30, 2021 at Temple Baptist Church.

I met Edward in 1984 while a student at UNCW and we became fast friends. I attended all but one of his church's Christmas programs and his dad brought him to my wedding in 1990. I will miss his smile and humor. Rest in peace my friend.
