FRANK MCCULLOCH Obituary

FRANK ROBERT MCCULLOCH Frank Robert McCulloch, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at SECU Hospice House of Brunswick. Born in Philadelphia, on February 12, 1935, he was the son of the late Frank Wagner McCulloch and Georgeanna Coates McCulloch of Havertown, PA. He enjoyed his 82 years of life to the fullest. An excellent golfer, Frank could be found on the courses 4-5 times a week. He loved walking his beloved Cocker Spaniels, spending time with his family, and was enjoying his retirement in St. James, where he moved in 2004. An avid sports fan, he followed all the Philadelphia sports teams. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Kathryn Starr McCulloch, and 3 daughters: Karen McCulloch (husband Michael Grubstein) and their daughter, Ashley, of Cary, NC; Susan McCulloch (husband George Voss) and their daughter Amelia, of Lansdale, PA; and Linda McCulloch McAffee (husband Mathew McAffee) and their children, Tyler and Caitlin, of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by his sister, Judith McCulloch Gearty, of Dracut, MA. Frank graduated from Lebanon Valley College in 1957 with a degree in business. He began his career at RCA in Moorestown, NJ, where he met his wife. He later relocated to the facility in Bridgewater, NJ: a town he made his home for 40 years, with his family. He transferred to NBC in NYC, where he became the VP of Human Resources for NBC Sports, Olympics Division: a job he considered the best in the world- taking him to such Olympic locations as Barcelona, Atlanta, Salt Lake City, and Sydney. Per his wishes, there will be no services, preferring to be remembered as he was. Coastal Cremations will be handling arrangements and his ashes will be scattered in a private family gathering. Condolences may be sent to [email protected] or 3630 Medinah Ave West, Southport, NC 28461. Memorial donations may be made in his name to SECU Hospice House of Bolivia, NC; or to SOAR: Southport-Oak Island Animal Rescue Center.

Another year has past, and the memories of Frank resonate with me just as strong. I recognize that I owe my thanks to Frank believing in me, and in being a significant person who helped my career development. I'm grateful for his frankness, humor and knowing him, yet also sad that I had not kept touch with him through the years. He'll be missed and will always be a part of all of us who he touched.

Frank's memory will not be forgotten. I still smile when I think of him and the time we had before/during and after Barcelona. Hoping all is well with your family Karen. My best, Michael

Seeing this photo of Frank warms my heart. He was a joy to work with and to know. Often smiling and always to pleasure to be around, Frank will be missed, but he will live on in the many many lives he touched.

It's been difficult to come up with the right words. Frank was one of a kind. He was a teacher, mentor and dear friend during the years that we worked together at NBC Olympics. When asked, he was always ready and willing to help and lend advice in any situation. With Frank's guidance, we had the best HR Team around. We continued our friendship after he retired and then he counseled me into my retirement. He will be dearly missed by many. I want to extend my condolences and deepest sympathy to his family but most of all I want to thank them for sharing him with us.

Frank was my first introduction to Olympics. He was always caring and concerned that our employees were well taken care. Frank would stop by our little medical dept in the IBC every day with a smile and a story. Such cherished memories. Thank you Frank!

I first met Frank when I applied for the job of Director of Systems for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics at NBC. It was my dream job, but Frank said I wasn't there long enough to apply, so I asked who I can escalate to and he said "Bob Wright". I asked for his extension and Frank laughed and said, "no, no... don't do that! Let me speak with the hiring Manager!". He helped break down the corporate barriers, and changed my life forever. And I will forever be in debt to Frank, and thank him for his honesty, humor and guidance. He will always be in my heart and mind, and may he Rest In Peace. My deepest condolences to Karen and his family as they mourn his passing, and reflect on their precious memories with him.

Frank's knowledge, humor and integrity endeared him to many both inside NBC Olympics and within the various Olympic organizing committees with which he dealt. He did so enjoy his role at NBC Olympics and those of us who worked with him and considered him a friend treasure the time we spent with him. He will be dearly missed.
