It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Skip. My father (Dana Sharp) watched him grow up over the years and thought highly of him. He still mentioned him on occasion up until his passing despite end stage Alzheimers.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Laskody family. I had the pleasure of working with Skip for many years at Harris Teeter and he ALWAYS made me laugh. I will treasure my memories that I have of him. What a great man and terrible loss for those who knew him. I am sure he is up in heaven right now telling a funny story and thriving in the laughter. Heaven gained a humorous and genuine angel.

I met Skip when I was a teenager at HT. He treated me like one of his children who he constantly talked about. I have never laughed as hard with anyone at work before Skip. He catered my wedding. We spent time together that I will always cherish and be grateful for knowing him. I loved that he would always stand up for what he thought was right and would not back down from it. He was truly a wonderful father, friend and I know that he is at peace and telling jokes in Heaven right now. I will always think of him and miss him. I am truly sorry for your loss.

I met Skip through working with him for the past 3 years on the Wilmington Wine & Chocolate Festival. I knew him to be a generous, kind and very warm person who enjoyed talking about cooking and took great pride in his family whom he adored. I was his entire family. May his memory be for a blessing to all of his friends and family.

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of this great man, chef and friend. We first got to know Skip when he was the Executive Chef at the Wilmington Hilton. He was a charter chef participating and winning the March of Dimes Gourmet Chef's Auction with his magnificent chocolate creations. He continued to give back to his community by participating in other local charity events such as Wilmington's Epicurean Evening to benefit Methodist Home for Children. Skip was once again a founding charter chef. Skip visited and gave local cooking demonstrations to senior adult groups like the Young at Heart's. Skip always had a winning smile, a kind word, and shared his love and knowledge of food. His contribution to his community will be missed by all who knew him. Prayers for his family, I know they will be lost without him.

I first met Skip in the 80's when he did the Valentine's Chocolate Cooking Show on 980 WAAV Radio with Chris Watkins, where I worked. He loved doing it and talked about doing chocolates with and for his kids often! We reconnected at the Chocolate Festival at the Senior Center and he joined our Management Team and helped us evolve it into The Wilmington Wine & Chocolate Festival. Skip was instrumental in planning and hosting the festival's Culinary Demonstrations each year, but his contributions went far beyond that! He was also a devoted volunteer and was there with us each year helping with anything we needed from the set-up to break-down. Skip was also very committed the festival's cause, which is to raise money to support senior services in our community. Skip's enormous contribution, his artistry, and his expertise will not be forgotten. I, personally, loved his gentle and caring spirit and appreciated the encouragement he gave me as I, along with others, worked to try and make each year's event better than the one before.
We will miss him greatly and our hearts go out to you! On behalf of the Wilmington Wine & Chocolate and our festival non-profit,(VOCAL)- the Volunteer Older Citizens Action League, We salute and honor you,Skip! Rest in Peace! You have left your mark with us and many others.

Sorry For Your Lost Skip Was A Great Man

Angie Kahney

I worked with Skip at Harris Teeter for many years. One of the kindest, funniest people I've ever known. And the man was a culinary genius cooking up some of the best food ever. He was a loyal friend with such integrity, always an original character. He was protective of those he managed and cared about, and ferocious and fearless when he needed to be. I can remember one occasion when he literally jumped into the path of a moving vehicle to stop a shoplifter...Always the man seeking justice and good, even if it meant taking it to extremes. At the time I wasn't sure whether he was crazy or brave...but I came to expect that Skip was that person you could always count on to look out for his employees in any situation and I respected him a great deal for that. . I enjoyed every shift I worked with him and always had a story to tell afterwards. But above all else, Skip adored his children. I loved to hear him talk about them and they were without a doubt his entire world. He was so proud and the way that he viewed being a dad was such a gift. I learned so much from him and am so grateful for the time I knew him. Truly a great man! My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. May they find comfort in the memories of the wonderful person he was.
