HUEY BOYKIN Obituary

HUEY JAMES BOYKIN

Mr. Huey James Boykin, 66, passed away on Saturday, August 25 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center following a 7 year battle with lung disease and recent fight with lung cancer.

Mr. Boykin was born in Parkersburg Township in Sampson County, and was a 1964 graduate of Clear Run High School in Garland, NC. He his wife Lena were joined in holy matrimony on June 25, 1967 and have resided in Wilmington since taking their vows.

He was a member of New Beginning Christian Church and a 40 year employee of Queensboro Steel and Metals USA. His loving life and generous spirit is survived by his wife Lena Buie Boykin, his son Patrick Boykin and wife Catrelia, his grandchildren Jairdin Linnea and Jameson Hugh Boykin, Ryan and Reanna Hayes, Godchild Felicia Roberts of Lancaster, PA, Gladys Ercell Boykin, Frances Boykin, G. Laverne Boykin, and Roy Boykin (Tawana), long time friends Leguin Nixon and wife Patricia, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family would like extend a special Thank You to Dr. Kenneth Kotz , Rebecca Edwards, PA and the staff of Cape Fear Cancer Specialists, Dr. Brian Legere and staff of Coastal Pulmonary Medicine, Dr. Christian Daniel of New Hanover Medical Group, Dr. Victor Abraham of Coastal Urology, Dr. Praful Patel of Cape Fear Heart Associates, the Wilmington VA CBOB Clinic Staff, New Hope Pulmonary Rehab staff, and Eddie Dorsey and Clark Robichaux of Oxycare. All of you met his needs with love and compassion and became family.

The family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 from 6:00-8:00. The services will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 12:00 noon at New Beginning Christian Church located at 3120 Alex Trask Dr. Castle Hayne, NC 28429.

In lieu of flowers, the Boykin family has requested that donations be made to the Huey J. Boykin memorial fund that has been established at SunTrust Bank. Contributions will be used to establish a memorial at Cape Fear Cancer Specialists and New Hope Pulmonary Rehab in Mr. Boykin's memory.
