We were watching the history of the building of the Blue Ridge Parkway Saturday night, and they were showing the town of Castle Rock. The country store was highlighted and we both looked at each other and said, "Willie's Country Store"! Hugo lives on in our memories and he is terribly missed. He was a true historian, in word and music.

I know we lost Hugo 6 years ago, but I am just now seeing his obituary. I first heard him play in the mid-1980's at a bar on Duval St., Key West, upstairs on a deck. I requested "Coast of Marseilles" by Jimmy Buffet, and Hugo sang it ever prettier than Buffet. As a frequent visitor to Key West, I would catch him from time to time at Hog's Breath. About 10 years ago or so, Hugo played on St. Simons Island, where I live. I took him some old pictures of me posing with the band back in the 80's and 90's. He had many fans! Anyway, he was a great guy and added so much love and enjoyment to so many of our lives. I still have a cassette tape of the Full Sail Band!! He will surely be missed but what a life he led while here on earth. God bless him.

Frank and I were so very sad to learn of Hugo's death. Friday night was dedicated to a small private concert in our living room where he had played and charmed about 40 of his old (and new) fans. A lot of tears were shed, but also a lot of smiles, too, in remembering the stories that were behind the stories of his songs. He is sorely missed and our hearts and prayers are with his family and others that loved him as well.

Louise, Mrs Duarte, Anne Marie and Hugo's entire family. You are in my thoughts and prayers. People come and go throughout your life. But there are those that stay in your heart for ever. Hugo was one of those special people. He made you laugh and made you feel special. He was always ready with a big smile. The last time I saw him was at his home in Nashville. Even though he was not physically there, he remained in my thoughts and I was so happy to reconnect on facebook. My heart is breaking as I think of him. But I hope that you knowing that he was loved by so many people will help you make it through. He will be greatly missed by all.
Goodbye my friend.
