James Fussell

Wilmington - James Earl Fussell, age 60, of South Dakota, formerly of Wilmington, NC, and his wife, Virginia Webb-Fussell, passed away together on Friday, July 9, 2021 in Hampstead, NC.

James was born on November 5, 1960 in Wilmington, NC to Margaret June (Sebrell) Twiford and the late Hubert Earl Fussell.

James was a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Castle Hayne, NC. He enjoyed working on cars and anything else mechanical. James also loved to travel. He was a very humorous man and a bright light to many people.

In addition to his mother, James is survived by his brothers, Kenneth L. Cavenaugh, Lee Dewayne Cavenaugh and wife, Ann, Michael Fussell and wife, Marlo, and Jacob; step-sons, Eric Webb, Michael Webb and wife, Cherie, Kyle Webb and wife, Terri, Rodney Webb, and Mitchell Webb, and wife, Jordan; step-daughters, Holly Webb and Brianna Webb; twenty-three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, James was preceded in death by his sister, Cindy Fussell; brother, Curtis Fussell; and two step-grandchildren, Wyatt Webb and Calvin Webb.

A funeral service will be held at Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, 3801 N. College Road, Castle Hayne, NC, on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 10am with Wayne McBride and Robert Erkstam officiating. Burial will follow at Harrells Cemetery in Harrells, NC, at the intersection of Hwy 421 and Ward Road (SR-1155).
