James A. Lockamy Sr.

JAMES A. LOCKAMY, SR James Aaron (Joe) Lockamy, Sr. of Wilmington left his earthly life on May 30, 2014 at his home in Wilmington with his family by his side. He was born in Elkin, NC on September 24, 1926 to the late John Robert and Rose Catlett Lockamy. Preceding him in death was his granddaughter, Pamela Sue Barnhill Mintz of Rocky Point in October 2013. In addition, his sisters, Mae Raines and Cornelia Jenkins and brothers Robert and Jackie Lockamy. Joe is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Summerlin Lockamy, son James (Jimmy) Lockamy, daughter Sue Carol Lockamy all of the home, daughter Terry Lockamy Croom of Rocky Point. His grandchildren Kandy Croom Jones (Britton), James T. (J.T.) Croom and Craig Mintz (husband to Pam), Leslie Carlton, Amy Hawkins and Jennifer McLean. Great grandchildren Aaron and Ashlynn Mintz (Jonathan Meares) and great-great granddaughter Kaylee Meares. Joe was a World War II Navy veteran, serving eight tours of duty. A visitation will be Monday, June 2, 2014 from 6-8PM at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home, Bradley Creek Chapel. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the funeral home with The Reverend Dondi Pace officiating. Interment Seagate Cemetery. The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to Dr. Rudyk and her kind staff and to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice of Wilmington for all the love and attention given to our father in his last days. A special thank you to the officers of The New Hanover County Sheriff's Department who will serve as casketbearers.
