John Buckingham Obituary

JOHN HARRIS BUCKINGHAM John Harris Buckingham, 85, was born to Stanley and Ruth Buckingham, in Meriden, CT. He received his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business in 1953. John then served in the Coast Guard during the Korean War. He was a life-long swimmer and after moving to New Hanover County, in 1969, became a fan of the ACC. John was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church for several decades where he shared his strong tenor voice and warm greetings. John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Eileen Buckingham; his three daughters, Carrie Long (Larry), Melanie Buckingham (Marsha Coker) and Amy Brown (David) and his six grandchildren: Lisa and Nicole Long, Sean and Galen Sullivan-Buckingham, and Noah Harris and Simon Brown. Visitation will be held at 1pm, Monday, January 26, 2015, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Market Street at 2pm, following the visitation. A private burial service will take place at Oleander Memorial Gardens. The family would like to extend a special thank you Dara and Phil Henry, Sharon and Allen Matthews, and Betty Brown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church or the Alzheimer's Association. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.andrewsmortuary.com
