Higgins, John J.
July 6, 1924 - Aug. 19, 2011

John J. Higgins, a resident of Venice, Fla. died Friday Aug. 19, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis Tenn.
Born on July 6, 1924 in Orange, N.J. to James and Mary Higgins, graduated from Orange High School and Uppsala College in East Orange, N.J. He retired from General Electric after many years of service.
Predeceased by his wife Dorothy and brothers Frank and James, he is survived by his sister Harriet Edsall, good friend Gary Franzen (Susana) along with many nieces and nephews.
He was a veteran of World War II (Pacific Theatre) serving with the U.S. Navy on LST ships. He was active locally as treasurer of the NJ Club of Venice and the Lakeside Woods Association and was a member of the ROMEO's.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011 at the Farley Funeral Home, 265 Nokomis Ave in Venice, Fla. with refreshments immediately following at the Pinebrook South Clubhouse, 1343 Featherbed Lane, Venice, Fla., 941-485-6460.
