Joy McKenney Obituary
INFANT LOUIS ADAM MCKENNEY
WINNABOW -- Joy Thigpen McKenney age 34, and a soon to be given birth son, Louis Adam McKenney, died Saturday June 18, 2011 at their home from complications her pregnancy.
Joy was born in New Hanover County on October 14, 1976 and was the daughter of Reverend Rory and Susie Thigpen, Pastor of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church of Loris, S.C. Joy was a loving wife, mother and daughter. She was an avid reader and loved gardening. The little things in life made her happy. She was preceded in death by her brother, Rory Adam Thigpen.
Survivors in addition to her parents include her husband, Steven McKenney; three sons, Austin Thigpen, Mackenzie Farmer, Seth Farmer; step-children, Justin McKenney, Amelia McKenney, Matthew McKenney; grandparents, Paul and Lois Richardson of Leland, Harvey and Shelby Eason of Leland; numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and extended family.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 21, 2011 at 2pm at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Galloway Road, Bolivia with Reverend Anthony Clemmons and Reverend V.C. Potter Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Town Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active and honorary pallbearers will be Joy's Uncles.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times from the home of Paul and Lois Richardson, 950 Forest Way, Leland.

I remember so many happy times with Joy as Mr Johnnie and I taught her in Youth class at Peace. She was so fun in class and eager to very shyly participate. I found the news of the loss of her and her son unimaginable. Its so hard to believe, yet I know that God has a reason for everything and this is one of those times you question. But through it all I pray that God will give you the strength and courage you need for these next days and that He will cover you with the peace and comfort only He can give.
