At Stalag Luft 3, the German p.o.w. camp for captured Allied Airmen, Marion Barnhill was imprisoned at the South Compound. He participated in the choir which performed Händel's "The Messiah" on Sunday, December 24, 1944.

Sarah Jane: So sorry to hear of your Father's passing. He lived a long wonderful life and I know your care of late, made his last few years better. So glad I was able to reconnect with you recently. I am thinking of you.

I am grateful for the fine service of Brother Barnhill to his country and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is an example to me and my family. I am grateful that my boys had the privilege to get to know him.

I didn't know Bro Barnhill for very long but he made a big impression on me. He was our home teacher at age 95 - no coasting for him. He was a true example of enduring to the end which I hope to follow. He loved his family, his country and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. One or all of these were evident everytime I spoke with him. We will miss you but know you are happy and free from pain now.
