I didn't know Mitch personally but played against him in American Legion baseball while I was playing for Whiteville. He was an incredible pitcher, and I had great respect for him. My prayers and thoughts go out to the family.

Faye, Ross, Megan and Morgan: My heart aches as I still can't believe this has happened. Ross and I, and Mitch and Caprice were all the same ages and lived next door to each other as we grew up in a wonderful neighborhood on Rose Avenue full of wonderful people we are still very close to. This has hurt us all deeply. I have reflected on the fun we all use to have, playing softball until it was so dark we couldn't see the ball anymore, and also the trouble we use to all get into with ringing doorbells and running, and arguing over toys,..ok... swiping each others toys too. But we were all close, and being next door to Ross and Mitch, we were really close. Loosing Mitch like this is like loosing a little brother. We stayed in touch on Facebook over the years, which isn't the same as seeing him, but the memories are and will always be there. I will miss him deeply, and I know he is up there with Tommy waiting on the rest of the gang to arrive. To all of the family, I would like to offer my deepest sympathies and know that I will do my part in keeping his memory alive.

With love,

Michael Sabol

I had the pleasure of working with Mitch at Queenstown Harbor. His love for people and competition were very obvious and he made many close relationships in his time at the course. You will be missed. RIP

I had the privilege of meeting Mitch over a 30 day stretch of time. After 2 days we were called brothers and I do consider him a friend closer to me than a brother. Not only was he a great friend to me but also to my son. The last time I spoke with Mitch was about a week or so ago. He was in great spirits and told me stories about Nolan Ryan and Yogi...ya he just called him Yogi...that I have never heard before.
Megan your Husband, and Morgan, your Dad, was a great...and the most honest man I have ever met...let us all learn from him

Mitch. You were such a special person and I will forever be grateful that we were able to reconnect after all those years. You were my first lockermate, my first boyfriend and the first boy that I ever held hands and danced with. You will always hold a special place in my heart. I can hear St. Peter at the pearly gates greeting you with a "Play Ball." Rest in peace my friend...until we meet again. To Megan, Ross and Morgan...may God give you peace through this sad and difficult time.

I met "Mitch" by a fellow named Don Eason. Mitch could throw a strike with any kind of ball. When he was younger, he was also a great bowler. He was a great pitcher on some great teams. I have a lot of respect for the man and his accomplishments. My family will pray for his family.

So shocked and sorry to hear of Mitch's passing. We are very grateful to have both known Mitch and be able to see him play his beloved game of baseball. He was an awesome player but more than that Mitch was a good friend. We have many wonderful memories of Mitch and although the business of life separated us for a while Mitch found us and reached out to reconnect. We had many great conversations this year, our only regret is that we were not able to see him...he had a smile that was infectious and we missed seeing that again. Our condolences to the family, Ms. Fay, Megan, Morgan and brother Ross. You all will be in our thoughts and prayers for God to grant you all the Peace and Strength that surpasses all understanding and will carry you through this time and the years after. Rest in Peace Mitch...may you play your best games in the Field of Dreams...

My prayers go out to Mitch's family for their loss. I knew Mitch and his brother Ross when I worked with their Dad. Later I had the pleasure of working with both brothers while they were still in school. For several years Mitch would work with us when he wasn't playing ball.

Mitch and I played so many baseball games together, roomed together on trips, and were always on the same page on the field. I was proud to have caught so many of his games and be there on the journey with him until he got drafted. He made me a better player. We had many good times together and I was glad to call him my friend and teammate. Until I catch you again, RIP my friend!

Mitch and I had so much fun in the mid 1980's. From riding in the "Beamer" listening to Van Halen, playing basketball, frisbee, going to concerts, playing in the "Longley Football League" during lunch hour, cruising the beach, shooting pool or just hanging out having a cold one. He was full of life and a good friend to me. I was glad to have known him. Rest in peace my friend.
