ROBERT JAMES KOZIK January 6, 1953 - September 21, 2018 Robert (Bob) James Kozik was born in Bronxsville, NY, and died at 65 years old. As a young man, Bob was a strong athlete, competing in a wide variety of sports. He attended Ashland University on a baseball scholarship. There he met Cheryl Lynn McCall. After only six months, the couple married and returned to NY. Seeking a calmer lifestyle, the couple soon relocated to Wilmington, NC, with the hopes of raising a family. They had two daughters: Jennifer Leigh and Kristen Shea. Bob was active in his daughters' upbringing with everything from making school lunches to coaching T-ball. Bob worked in advertising for the Wilmington Star News for 25 years and was known to many in the community. As a dedicated sports enthusiast, Bob closely followed the UNC TarHeels, Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Orioles, and the PGA. Bob was a kind, thoughtful friend who was known for making large amounts of specialty soups to distribute to his friends. He loved making others laugh, listening to live music and playing his guitar, and spending time in the NC mountains. Those who will miss and remember him include: Cheryl Lynn Kozik, daughter Jennifer and her husband Daniel Smith and their children Jackson and Eleanor, daughter Kristen and her husband Jeremy Gobien and their children Samuel and Maggie, brother and sister-in-law William and Mary Kozik, and close family friend David Sims, among others.
