Thirty nine years ago, Tom Luckett became my teacher. My parents were separated and I had holes in my home life that created misdirection in my personal growth. Tom recognized traits and strengths in me and knew how to challenge them in a way that let me bloom. I found support, balance and guidance under Tom's mentorship that saved my life. I went on to major in Distributive Education at Virginia Tech and became a leader in the collegiate co-curricular DECA organization. The confidence and leadership skills that I have carried through my life were all formed under Tom's initial tutelage. I am so sorry that I cannot attend Thursday's service. My thoughts and prayers are with Mique, Jessica, Bob and Connie as they remember, heal, and go forward. God bless you all. And, to my friend and teacher…thank you, Mr. Luckett. Cheryl Hanback

So sorry to hear the news of Tommy's passing. I too was looking forward to seeing him at our 50th high school reunion. Little did I realize I would get to know his brother, Bobby, during my working career. Oh those Luckett boys!! I only hope his family will take comfort knowing the number of friends and acquaintances whose lives Tommy touched. My prayers for the family as they go through this difficult time.

My heart goes out to Tommy's family. He was a wonderful classmate and we were all looking forward to seeing him at our 50th high school reunion planned for September 2016. Please know that he will always be remembered by his friends and classmates. He was charming, handsome, witty, athletic, and a star baseball player. He was just adorable. Rest in peace now Tommy for your race has been won and you are now home.
