ALLEN PATRICK (PAT) WHEELER Allen Patrick (Pat) Wheeler, 87, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018 in Jacksonville, FL, surrounded by his family. Viewing will be from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at Peeples Family Funeral Homes, 2220 Soutel Drive, Jacksonville, Florida 32208. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 12:30 PM at Peeples Family Funeral Homes, 2220 Soutel Drive, Jacksonville, Florida 32208 with his sons officiating. Burial will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery (Lane #2), 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218. Pat was born in Watha, NC to Austin & Melrose Wheeler on April 8, 1931. He went to school in Pender County, NC. After serving in the Navy during the Korean Conflict, he married Alice Faye Cavenaugh on February 26, 1956 in Wallace, NC. In addition to fulfilling his life's call to be a Pastor, he worked for CSX Railroad (retired 1986) and various railroad car repair companies in the Jacksonville, FL area. He also served as a circuit Pastor in Eastern NC and later Pastored several churches in Jacksonville, FL, after relocating to with the Rail Road in 1960. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Norman Wheeler, and his sister Louise Wheeler Willetts. Pat is survived by his wife, Alice Faye, of 62 years, three sons Will, and Dean, in Jacksonville, and David (Patty) of Springfield, VA. Brothers Tommy Wheeler (Ann) of Jacksonville, Richard Wheeler (Shirley) of Mingus, TX, and David Wheeler (Faye) of Huntsville, AL, and Sister-in-law Ann Cavenaugh of Wallace, NC. Pat enjoyed the company of his grandchildren: John, Kristie, Patrick, Katie (Little Angel Girl), Adam, Andrew, Kristen, Mylea, and Samuel. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Pallbearers will be Patrick Wheeler, Adam Wheeler, Andrew Wheeler, Samuel Wheeler, John McKinley, Rick Peters, Mark Haskew, and Derick Igo.
