Craig Alan ""Wally"" Beckman

1961 - 2022

Craig Alan "Wally" Beckman, 60, of Wenona, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at his home.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Wenona with Rev. Peter Glock officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Wenona. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of services Monday in the church. The Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona is assisting the family with arrangements.

Craig was born in Streator on June 14, 1961 to Donald and Judith (Gotch) Beckman. He attended Wenona Schools, graduating in 1979, and attended IVCC. He worked 30 years for the United States Post Service with stops in Wenona, at the Distribution Center in La Salle and as Postmaster in Rutland.

Craig was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and camping. He also loved working in his yard and tending to his flowers. He enjoyed sports as both a player and spectator. He lettered in basketball, and baseball at Wenona. He was a diehard Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks fan, along with cheering on the Fightin' Illini Men's teams, and the Fieldcrest High School boys' and girls' teams.

Craig enjoyed decorating his house for Halloween and Christmas…he could have easily won "Clark Griswold" award with his Christmas lights! And, if you asked him, he would say he did it for the kids.

Craig is survived by his mother, Judith of Wenona; a brother Doug Beckman of Wenona; a niece Destiney Evans of Oglesby; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a very special group of close-knit friends whom his family is very thankful for them being in Craig's life.
Craig was preceded in death by his father; his maternal grandparents, Andrew and Sue Gotch; and his paternal grandparents, Leo and Christine Beckman.
