Eldon Brant Obituary

STATESBORO, Ga. - Mr. Eldon Gene Brant, age 74, died Sunday, August 28th, 2011, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility following an extended illness. The Screven County native lived in Bulloch County most of his life. He retired from Howard Lumber and Hardware Company as the general manager following many years of service and had continued to serve on their board of directors. Mr. Brant was a member of the Merrywood Baptist Church. He was a Mason, a member of the Ogeechee Lodge #213 F&AM and a former member of the Statesboro Shrine Club. He will always be remembered for his love of fishing, traveling to the mountains and spending time with his family. Mr. Brant was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis Brant and Helen Dixon Brant.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Ruth Miller Brant of Statesboro; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Connie Williams and Debbie and Al Hammock, all of Statesboro, and Donna and David Kellis of Birmingham, Ala.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Glenn Williams of Statesboro and Bill and Cindy Brant of Benton, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, Bailey Williams, Stacey Hammock, Lindsey (Jamie) Lewis, Ali Hammock, Travis Hammock, Billy Brant, Sarah Brant, Shayla Brant, Dominy Landwehr, Corky Landwehr; and a brother, Dixon Brant of Athens, Ga.
The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Will Griffith officiating. Interment, with Masonic rites, will be in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Edwards, Wayne Williams, Jamie Lewis, Chris Hendrix, Kevin Spence and Hoyt Daughtry.
Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Howard Lumber and Hardware and area Masons.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Merrywood Baptist Church, 23366 Highway 80 East, Statesboro, Ga. 30458; or Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Ga. 30459.
