George Donaldson Obituary

STATESBORO, GA. -- Mr. George Huey Donaldson, age 81, died on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. The Bulloch County native was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War. He moved to Savannah in 1952 and worked with Union Camp until his retirement after 41 years of service. Mr. Donaldson returned to Bulloch County in 1993 and worked with Bulloch County Recycling for 10 years. He was a member of the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Brown Donaldson and Lucile Beasley Donaldson; a son, Wilbur Gene Donaldson; and a brother, Robert Donaldson.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Bonnie Gay Donaldson of Statesboro, Ga.; a son and daughter-in-law, Wes and Karen Donaldson of Jefferson, Ga.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jennie and John Bryant of Pembroke, Ga., and Angela and Bill Hall of Statesboro, Ga.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, two sisters, Rebecca Nessmith of Statesboro, Ga., and Sarah Waters of Statesboro, Ga.; two brothers, Harold Donaldson of Statesboro, Ga., and James Donaldson and his wife, Nan, of Savannah, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Donaldson of Statesboro, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be Tuesday, March 19, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
The funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Elder Randy Waters officiating, assisted by Elder Jack Anderson. Interment will be in the Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Owen Bryant, Spencer Bryant, Nelson Hill, Reynolds Hall, Ben Robert Nessmith and David Donaldson.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1529 Metts Road, Statesboro, Ga. 30461; or Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church, 4 South Zetterower Avenue, Statesboro, Ga. 30458.
