Beno Hellinger Obituary

Beloved father and grandfather Beno A. Hellinger passed peacefully to his eternal reward while at home with his loving family on February 16, 2025.

He was born November 16, 1935 to Beno and Bessie Hellinger in Kovar, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army then worked for thirty years for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a long-time active member of St. Louis Parish.

Beno married Jane Goertz in 1964, settled in Austin and raised ten children. Beno passed on a love for his Czech heritage to his children and grandchildren with polka music and his special smoked sausage.

Beno is survived by his ten children: Diane (Titus) Ashour, Catherine (Kevin) McCue, Pamela (Keith) Tabor, Paul Hellinger, Laura (John) Duckworth, Charles (Dolly) Hellinger, John (Angie) Hellinger, Linda (Hoyt) Moss, Mark (Vaness) Hellinger, a/nd Elaine (Ryan) McGuckin, 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, sisters Helen Alloway and Henrietta Meuth and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Jane Goertz Hellinger.

Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 23 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cook Walden Funeral Home on Lamar Blvd. with Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Louis Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24. Burial at Kovar Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
