Bernice Zreet Obituary

Bernice Becker Zreet age 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 22, 2023 in Georgetown, Texas.

Bernice was born April 28,1928 in Pflugerville, Texas to Adolf and Edna Becker where she grew up on the family farm along with brothers Adolph "Sonny" Becker Jr., Wilbert Becker and sisters Freida Becker Woodland and Edline Becker McMains.

Bernice was dedicated to her Lord and church at Immanuel Lutheran Pflugerville. She was baptized, confirmed, and married Edwin Zreet there on October 2,1948 where the couple shared a lifelong membership and love of God. Bernice and Edwin began their married life in Pflugerville where they owned and operated the Electric Shop in Pflugerville from 1948 to 1952 after which they built a home and then raised their two sons in Austin, Texas where they lived for 48 years.

They moved to Georgetown Texas to be closer to family in 2006 when Edwin's health declined. Edwin and Bernice celebrated 61 years of marriage upon Edwin's passing in 2009 and then in 2016 Bernice moved to The Wesleyan Assisted Living in Georgetown where she continued her residence and life and received wonderful care until her passing.

Bernice was a consummate homemaker and a fabulous cook who enjoyed entertaining her family and friends. She will be remembered fondly as the host for many joint birthday parties for the grandchildren and neighbors as well as her famous Snickerdoodle cookies for the grandkids and her Rum indulged fruit cake during the Holidays for the adults. Bernice was dedicated to the Lord and her church and served on the Alter Guild, as a Financial Secretary and was member of Immanuel's women's organizations. She will be interred at Immanuel Lutheran Church Pflugerville next to her beloved husband Edwin.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edwin and sister Edline Becker McMains. Bernice is survived by her Sister Frieda Woodland, brother Adolph "Sonny" Becker Jr., and Wilbert Becker and wife Billie. Her son Allan Zreet and wife Cheryl of Dallas, son Gary Zreet and wife Danna of Burnet; grandchildren, Kristin Jacobs and husband Bryan, Chase Zreet, Tyler Zreet, Collin Zreet and wife Taylor and Rachael Wright and husband Thomas. She was also blessed with four great grandchildren, Bryce Jacobs, Brynlee Jacobs, Alder Zreet and Faye Wright.

Pallbearers are Collin Zreet, Chase Zreet, Tyler Zreet, Thomas Wright, Travis Woodland and Stan Arnhamn. Wilbert Becker, Adolph Becker Jr., Richard Becker, Bryan Jacobs and David Becker are honorary Paul Bearers.

There will be a visitation at Cook Walden/ Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville on Sunday, October 29, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. The funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pflugerville, on Monday, October 30, with the interment immediately following in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Honor of Bernice Zreet.
