Well it's been almost a year since you have been gone Uncle Burton. I think you often as for years and years I looked forward to your "Wilson" news letters . I enjoyed visiting you in Santa Barbara and in Ausitin. I have may of your photos and will cherish them forever. My best memory was how you helped pull me through the sorrow I felt when Kenny died by writing to me so often. RIP Uncle Burton...

Burton and my mother-in-'love' ate at the same table at Westminster Manor, and he was such a delightful gentleman. We loved to hear his stories from growing up a farm boy in Vermont to their move to Texas. His room was like visiting a private museum. Burton certainly had an eye for detail, and we are blessed to have known him.

Although I met Mr. Wilson only briefly, he impressed me as being a genuine gentleman, with the gift of a keen eye and great insight as a photographer. My copy of "Burton's Book of the Blues" is a treasure.
Rest in peace Mr. Wilson

When my Dad was a resident @ Westminster, we had breakfast with Burton during my visits from Arkansas. We called ourselves "The Breakfast Club" What a treat. Our table was the envy of the entire room because Burton was so entertaining. I bought every copy of "The Austin Music Scene" I could find & had Burton sign them all. My favorite was "Onward Thru the Fog, BW". An unforgettable gentleman.

Burton,
You and Katherine were so kind and generous to Jackie when she got home from Africa, and welcomed me so graciously when I came into her life. I treasure our visits, the letters, clippings and photos you sent over the years, and the prints you made me of my favorite images. I am honored and amazed to have known you.

Sending love from the Jack Jackson family. Burton was a great soul, well loved by Jack and all who he encountered. He was very kind to me and son Sam on the occasions that we met. -- Much love, Tina

I have been visiting Burton at Westminster Manor Health Care Center for a number of years. I first met him because he lived a few doors down from my mom and I caught a glimpse of the photos in his room. I started visiting him with my dog Truman, a Therapy Pet Pal, and would see him about every two weeks. I'd sit with him for awhile and have a nice chat. There were a few times when he didn't feel well, but he never complained. We would talk about photography and I would show him photos on my iPhone. I took a lot of pictures of the retrospective show about him at the South Austin museum to show to him, and he really enjoyed looking at them. The last time I saw him, May 21, I told him that Greg Davis, a National Geographic photographer with a studio on Thornton Road, said he'd like to meet Burton and maybe do an article on him, but he was going out of town til June, and then we'd arrange a visit. Burton thought that was just grand and said he'd look forward to it. I was really hoping it would work out.
Well, Burton, I'm really going to miss visiting you, but I know that you were ready to go any time. You were loved by many.

Jim Bones, Jim Bonar, and I, and many others, were students of Russ Lee's and got to know Burton then. What a sweet, talented man he was. I am glad to have known him.

Burton's legacy to the Austin music scene is equal to that of all the musicians he photographed. Thanks, and Onward Through the Fog.

Burton, old friend, you enriched our lives in so many ways. Rest in peace. Minor, your dad was an original; they just don't make 'em like Burton anymore.
