Caitlin KENNEDY Obituary

KENNEDY,

Caitlin Courtney

Our beloved daughter, Caitlin Courtney Kennedy, passed quietly on November 2, 2014. Caitlin was born on October 20, 2005 in Austin, Texas. She left as she arrived, surrounded by those who loved her.

Caitlin was born in Austin to two UT grads who had dreams that she would play softball or be the featured baton twirler for the University of Texas. She would play the harp, be a Girl Scout, and speak three languages. None of this happened. Caitlin took a different path. She took trips to both coasts, visited Disneyland, Disney World, Lego Land, The State Fair of Texas and Morgan's Wonderland. She had friends from many countries. She positively impacted those who met her and those who cared for her. Caitlin and her family are members of the St. Matthew's Episcopal Church and she attended the 8am Service for several years.

Caitlin was survived by her brother Matthew, parents Catherine and David, her grandparents Monica and Clayton, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was recently proceeded in death by her Opa, Eddie Barnes. Caitlin was loved and cared for by her family and nurses who supported her throughout much of her life. Key amongst these are her beloved Bethany Miller, who she loved very much; Mike Watson, Melissa Williams, Shasta Coleman and many more too numerous to list. The medical team along with Catherine established a care system which allowed Caitlin to live well beyond all expectations. We also wish to thank: Dr. Scranton, Dr. Keogh, Dr. Zwiener, Dr. Case and Carlene at Hospice Austin for the care they provided to Caitlin.

Caitlin's life will be celebrated at a service at 3:30pm on November 16th, 2014. The service will be held at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church at 8134 Mesa Drive, Austin and officiated by Rector Merrill Wade. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the National Tay-Sachs and Allied Diseases Association in Caitlin's honor.

Dear Kennedy Family,
I have often thought of Caitlin and somehow this evening stumbled on this obituary for her. I am so sorry for your loss. I was honored to care for Caitlin as her dietitian for several years before moving away from the Austin area. She was a beautiful little girl, and I feel blessed to have known her and you all, her loving family. Catherine, you are such an amazing mom and your love for your children was always inspiring to me. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you as you continue to grieve.
Love,
Kim Bilger
