To Mrs Cummings family: my name is Patricia Young-Sutton and I had the pleasure of being taught by this wonderful lady in 9th and 10th grade at Reagan. I'm class of 74 and graduated with Russell Castro. Mrs Cummings instilled in me a love of English and literature. She was a wonderful teacher and friend. I visited her after class many days after she wasn't my teacher anymore.. She was a special person who lived a wonderful life and will be greatly missed.

RIP, Mrs. Cummings. Because of you, my love for literature continued to grow, and I taught for 20 years before becoming a writer. Your class was one of my favorites! Your legacy lives on!

Mrs. Cummings--Carol, as she insisted I call her in our friendship which continued into my adulthood following high school grad from DSHS in 1988--what I, and so many, are so grateful for following high school. I would have never guessed it back then, but I now make my living depending heavily on the writing skills I learned in high school under her tutelage. It was great fun relaying to her how, while getting my graduate degree I took a "writing intensive" course in which I was drafting and turning in 1000-2000 word essays in single sittings with no edits--pure garbage, actually--and I would get 98s or 100s for grades, but there was no doubt that they would have never passed her muster. My memories flash so quickly between class readings of Hamlet's soliloquy...Canterbury tales (the Canterbury Rap by the Class of 88 Honors English class)...King Lear. No doubt, she is one-in-a-million and Heaven is richer now for her having joined them; she will be missed.

God Bless the family of Mrs. Cummmings; she is receiving her eternal reward. A former student from Reagan High 1975, Mrs. Cummmings had such a passion for English, history, literature and made them so interesting to me as a student-a very nice person and teacher.

Mrs. Cummings was a favorite High School teacher of mine. I had her for senior English at Dripping Springs in 1990-91, and some of my best classroom memories are from her class. She helped to fuel my love of books and taught me to love and appreciate Shakespeare. She had our class "act out" her short story while she filmed it. It was a lot of fun!
She even came to my wedding (my husband also knew her as a beloved English teacher), and I continued to see her occasionally through out the years. She was a blessing and a wonderful woman! I feel honored that she was a part of my life and impacted me in such a positive way.

I am so sorry for your loss. May the God who "binds up the brokenhearted" and "comforts all who mourn" sustain you during this difficult time. (Isaiah 61:1,2). My prayers are with your family.

Ryan and I are so saddened to hear of Mrs. Cummings' passing. What a truly great lady and inspiration to us. I was one of her English students at DSHS and she made a lasting impression upon my education and my love of literature. I can still hear her dramatically saying Whan that Aprille with his shoures soote. The droghte of Marche hath perced to the roote' - from the prologue of Canterbury Tales. She was a captivating educator. What a lovely lady with a lasting legacy that her children and grandchildren can be so proud of. She also wrote a beautiful tribute and message to us on here when my father-in-law passed away - for which we were so grateful. With much love to Mrs. Cummings and her family.....Hook EM Dinah and Ryan Street
