Charles Alexander Obituary

Dr. Charles Dale Alexander, age 84, of Austin, TX, died Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at St. David's Hospital, Austin, TX.

Charles Alexander was born in Colorado Springs, Co. on September 27, 1939. He was raised in Amarillo, TX and graduated from Amarillo High School, Amarillo, TX, in 1958. Charles AKA Chuck was a quarterback for Amarillo High School.

After graduating from high school, Charles went to New Mexico State where he continued to play football, where they were champions in the Sun Bowl in 1959. He then went to medical school and graduated from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in June of 1968.

During his internship, he served in the US Navy and was stationed in San Diego.

Charles Alexander married the love of his life Lou Buckner on February 14, 2004, in Austin, TX. Charles was a lifetime member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, and was a diplomate of the board of American Board of Family Practice. Charles also received a longstanding dedication award for 25 years or more of service from Brackenridge Hospital on December 11, 2000.

Charles had a love for racquetball, fishing, hunting, and collecting an extensive array of vinyl records.

Dr. Charles Alexander was known to his colleagues, residents, nurses, and patients as a compassionate, caring physician and practiced in Austin, Texas for 30 years.

Survivors include his wife Lou Alexander, five children, Charles Aaron [Blanca] Alexander of Mississippi, Jeremy [Katrina] of Amarillo, TX, Randy Alexander of Austin TX, Rene Carpenter [Jo] of Liberty Hill, Ray Buckner of Liberty Hill; four grandchildren, Dillion Alexander, Jentry Alexander, Jordan Alexander, and Shelby Buckner; and one brother Jerry Alexander of San Antonio TX. He was preceded in death by one brother Ross Holloway [Evelyn] of Mesa Arizona, one sister Geanene Boyter of Amarillo TX., and one daughter Laura Alexander.

Out of respect for Charles' wishes, there will be no service at this time.

In the wake of Dr. Charles Dale Alexander's passing, our hearts ache with the weight of loss, even though many of us never had the opportunity to meet him. Through the stories and memories shared by Aaron, we glimpse the depth of his character and the love he radiated. While we may not have known him personally, his legacy of kindness, strength, and guidance echoes through the words and actions of those he touched. As Aaron and his family navigate this sorrowful journey, may they find solace in knowing that their father's spirit lives on in the love and memories he leaves behind.
