Chuck Bates Obituary

Chuck Bates Chuck Bates, age 60, of Austin, Texas, died on Tuesday, December 16, 2008. He was born on April 25, 1948, in La Grange, Illinois, to Charles M. Bates, Sr. and Helen G. Bates. Chuck graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Finance. He worked as a Sales Manager for Harte-Hanks. Chuck enjoyed sports, landscaping, and his grandchildren. He was a past state president of the Jaycees, a Mason, and a die hard Cubs fan. Chuck is survived by his wife, Lynn Bates; son, Chris and wife Karen Bates; brothers and sisters, Sue Fox, Charlene Kruk, Susan Ruley, Cindy Salikof, and Rusty Ludman; grandchildren, Libby and Caleb Bates; and by a huge extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Judith Dague Bates. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2008, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, officiated by Rabbi Kerry Baker. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Chuck's name to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Obituary and guestbook online at wcfish.com

I worked with Chuck at Harte Hanks. He always made me laugh. He was one of the real "good guys." He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. He touched our lives. I feel blessed for knowing him.
