Damian Martinez Obituary

Damian Rene Martinez, age 47, of Buda, Texas passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024. He was born in San Antonio, Texas to Maria Elena Martinez and Joseph A. Martinez. Damian attended Central Catholic High School before later graduating from Judson High School and would go on to attend Palo Alto Community and Austin Community College.

Damian started his career working in hospitality services for SODEXO Company which services all of the University of Texas at Austin (UT) concessions. This began his love of all things UT and their sporting events.

Damian later entered the towing business as a Tow Truck Operator for 11 years. Damian excelled at this position as he truly loved being behind the wheel of his flat-bed truck. Damian shared his daily towing travels and challenges throughout Texas with us through pictures and videos. Family and friends will forever cherish the spectacular pictures of Texas sunrises and sunsets he sent us.

He recently went to work for Lone Star Medical Transport, a company that provides transportation services for physically challenged individuals. Damian loved the opportunity this position brought for him to have a positive impact on those individuals he could help. He would often say he knew they were in a difficult situation and he wanted to brighten their day while they were in his company. This truly demonstrates Damian's passion in caring for others.

Damian loved cars, a passion he shared with his mother, and he was a member of the Scion Car Club for 5 years, winning numerous trophies for "Best in Show". He loved watching movies, his favorite was Scarface. Damian loved all things Star Wars and Fast and Furious, Damian loved all animals, stopping his tow truck often to move turtles off of the road.

Damian had the biggest and kindest heart, always willing to help family, friends or anyone in need. Damian had the truest of love for his Mother and Father. Damian deeply loved all his family and he was equally cherished and loved back. Damian was a true friend to all he met and knew. The first comment always made about Damian was how handsome he was. Damian had a smile that would melt anyone's heart.

Damian put others before himself. Damian will be deeply missed but his spirit of giving will live within all of us, forever.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ramona Trevino Hernandez and Esteban Hernandez Sr., and his paternal grandparents, Teodora "Toy" M. Lozano and Lucio "Big Boy" Martinez. He is survived by his mother, Maria Elena Martinez; his father, Joseph A. Martinez; Patricia O'Connor (Step-mother); and many aunts, uncles, and family.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM at Roy Akers Funeral Home, 515 N Main Avenue, San Antonio, Texas 78205. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home the following morning, Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 8:30 AM for a funeral mass at 9:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 617 S Santa Rosa Avenue, San Antonio, Texas 78204.
