I am just learning of Damon's passing. We met in 1966 -- going from Kingsland to Llano to attend school. I had that junky old dodge (1952) and he had that nice corvair. I upgraded cars over the next few years but that corvair was always his. We became close friends until college pulled us in different direction. Rest in Peace Damon -- you have earned it.

I remember the first time I met Damon was when I was delivering meals on wheels . let his little dog out and had to chase it down. He thought it was funny. I never let it happen again. I will miss him.

We'll always miss our kind, weekend neighbor, Damon. The very first time I had the opportunity to meet him was shortly after we came to the neighborhood. After I rang his doorbell, Damon immediately asked me inside to visit him and his little dog. After we exchanged contact information, I invited him to call on me any time, for anything.
The next visit occurred when Damon needed help retrieving his stubborn truck, which then was marooned at Sonic. When Damon kept apologizing profusely for "bothering me" (as he put it), I had to reassure him that I really did love to be able to help him and that such is exactly what good neighbors do. I think he finally did believe my sincerity, as eventually he quit trying to tell me how sorry he was.
We'll miss Damon's quiet presence, and his friendly wave just two doors away but regret that we cannot be in town for his memorial service.
May you enjoy eternally the warm embrace of God's loving arms, Damon!

We worked as partners for many years, the last time we talked which was after Christmas we were discussing some of the things that happened! He always said him and I should write a book! He was truly one of the best friends I ever had! We worked together the entire banking career! One of the last things he said to me was lets stay in touch! Good bye buddy! Such sweet memories,

A loss to so many! Damon was a great friend and co-worker. He would do anything for you if you were in need. The times we had are so memorable.....like every Thursday night at the bowling alley with the Banker's Twilight league!! there were many laughs...and gutter balls! And, oh, do you remember when he drove the old pea green Cadillac? or when he'd assist Cain in a repo? And the times our desks were together---gee, did we get any work done? And oh my, the customer calls we made or tried to make! Not sure we ever got new business, but we did have a good time and laughs. And oh, the time we were cruising around in my new sports car at night and got stuck high-center on a some road. Not sure how we got out of that. Does anyone remember Damon subbing on our softball team? We probably didn't win that game. The memories abound. Damon, I'll miss you!

I will always treasure the great memories of the fun times we had at Republic Bank South Austin. I see him in my mind now , walking past my desk moving a mile a minute making a wisecrack along the way. He will be missed and is loved by so many!
