Daniel Evanicky Obituary

Daniel Eugene Evanicky, 77 years of age born on May 19, 1945, in LaGrange, Texas was welcomed into our Heavenly Father's embrace on May 24, 2022. A resident of Round Rock, Daniel lost his battle with Muscular Dystrophy. Daniel grew up in Smithville, TX where he graduated from Smithville High School and was named Valedictorian.

Daniel went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin where he majored in Chemistry and Physics. He had a long and successful career as a Visual Display Engineer, becoming an expert in Liquid Crystal Display, attaining 31 patents, and winning numerous awards and accolades.

Daniel changed how we view information today by being the co-inventor of the first laptop and inventing wide aspect ratio. He was beloved by colleagues around the globe collaborating, designing, and inventing were his passions.

His biggest passion, however, was his family. Daniel is preceded in death by his parents Elo and Josephine Evanicky and daughter Tammy Evanicky-Pestinger. He is survived by his daughters Carol Evanicky and Cipriana Evanicky, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins.

Daniel will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery in Smithville, Texas. Visitation will be held at Marrs-Jones Funeral Home on Thursday, June 9, 2022, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Services will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church on Friday, June 10, 2022, at 10:00am.

I had the great fortune to meet and work with Dan as one of his patent attorneys. Dan taught me the basics of flat panel displays having an encyclopedic knowledge of the field. He was a great man and a good friend. I will always count Dan as one of the most impressive inventors I´ve ever worked with in my 30 years as a patent attorney.
