David Hearn Obituary

HEARN, David Lee Age 88, of Austin, Texas, passed away on January 9th, 2021 in Austin. David was born in New Gulf, Texas to Charles and Barbara Hearn on March 15th, 1932. The family moved to Freeport, Texas in 1937, where David grew up. In 1949, he joined the U.S. Navy. As a corpsman, he was attached to the Fleet Marines Force during the Korean War Conflict and spent the next 4 years earning his combat ribbons. In 1954, he married Juanelle Hollingsworth and had 3 children. In 1961, David moved his family from Houston to Austin and joined Fox & Hearn, Inc., a mechanical contracting firm founded the year before, by his brother Jim and Curtman C. Fox. In 1974, he became the sole owner and president of the company, spending the next 30 years building the growing Austin skyline. He retired in 2001 and moved to the Corpus Christi area. There he met and married Sue Carroll. The next 20 years were spent traveling, spending time with friends and enjoying lots of golf and fishing. David is survived by son Scott Hearn (Toni) and daughter Susan Janecka (Ron), stepson Mitch Carroll, stepdaughter Mary Howry, brother Jim Hearn, sisters Martha Swint, Charlene Speed and Barbara Dunn. Grandchildren Brad Payne, Brandon Janecka, Jordon Janecka, Alina Hearn. One great granddaughter Keely Juanelle Janecka, numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by wives Juanelle Hearn and Sue Carroll, parents Charles and Barbara Hearn, son Jimmy Hearn, grandson Joshua Hearn, brother Sonny Hearn, sisters Beth Dean and Linda Hearn.
