David Montgomery Obituary

David Fields Montgomery, 77 of Austin, Texas passed away on September 26, 2025. He was born May, 1948 in Austin, Texas to Bert and Sybil Montgomery.
David was a native Austinite and graduated from Austin High School in 1966 having earned his Eagle Scout. He joined the Navy in 1968 during the Vietnam war. In this time, he served at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan caring for wounded soldiers. After being honorably discharged in 1970, he worked for Austin Ambulance Service and attended nursing school. As a nurse, he worked in many different specialties including: oncology, psychiatry, and special needs.
As a philanthropist, he spent approximately 10 years volunteering with Victim Services for the Austin Police Department.
He was a drummer, singer, guitar player, and fiddle player with a particular love of Bluegrass and Celtic music. In addition to his music, he was a photographer and left behind numerous photographs showing us the world through his eyes.
He is survived by his 3 sons: Stephane Montgomery, Christian Montgomery, and Joel Montgomery; his former wife, Susan Montgomery; h is two sisters Sally Jackson and Mindy Montgomery; and many other extended family members.
The Celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. on November the 22nd at Christ Church, 112 Medina Street, Austin, TX 78702.
