PEARSON, Don Nels

Don Nels Pearson, 66, of Austin, passed away last Wednesday.



He was born to the late David and Elizabeth Pearson, Nov. 7, 1948, in Austin. Don graduated from Macarthur High School in San Antonio, Texas in 1966. He attended North Texas State University and during this time he met and married Beth Upton. Also at this time Don and Beth made the decision to dedicate their lives to ministry in the Church of Christ. Don went on to become an ordained minister in the Church of Christ for 13 years as well as a missionary in the Caribbean Islands and Trinidad Tobago. Don and Beth experienced the birth of their daughter, Nia. After their service in the Bahamas and Trinidad Tobago Don and his family returned to Florida where he transitioned from his life as a minister into an entrepreneur starting several successful businesses. In 1993 Don and his family moved backed to his birthplace of Austin to be closer to his family. Once in Austin Don started and owned Lone Star Roofing.



No matter where Don was located he was always connected to the outdoors. He loved to hunt, fish and scuba dive and most of all experience them surrounded by family and friends. His hunting and fishing experiences took him to Africa, Mexico, the Bahamas, Trinidad Tobago, Florida, Colorado, New Mexico and of course his beloved Texas.



Don is survived by his daughter Nia Miller; granddaughter Reese Miller; his brother Dan Pearson, his wife Sheri Pearson and their two boys, Don's nephews, Dane and Shea Pearson and a special friend, Dellene Hornsby and her family.



In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to The National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.



A memorial service will be held this Tuesday the 6th at 2:00 at Austin- Peel & Sons Funeral Home located at 607 E. Anderson Lane.
