Dorothy Sultemeier Obituary

Family-Placed Obituary

Dorothy Elna Bergstrom Sultemeier Dorothy Elna Bergstrom Sultemeier, age 73, of Marble Falls passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2005, after a long illness. Dorothy was born on February 24, 1931, in Melvin, Texas, the eldest of two daughters of Rosa Dorothea Gustafson and Victor Caleb Bergstrom. She spent her childhood in Melvin and in Dassel, Minnesota, and graduated from International Bible College in San Antonio in 1947. She married Werner Charles Sultemeier in Austin on November 27, 1948, and lived in Austin until she and her family moved to Marble Falls in 1976. She was a founding member of Christian Life Church in Austin, and for many years was a faithful member of the United Pentecostal Church in Marble Falls, where she taught Sunday School, played the piano and organ, and sang. She was able to summon the strength to play the organ for the last time on Sunday a week prior to her death. Dorothy also was an accomplished piano and keyboard instructor and for over twenty years played the organ and sang at services for the residents of Northwood Health Care Center. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, W. C. Sultemeier, in 1990. She is survived by her sister, Dagmar Ryden of Round Rock; her sons, Dale Sultemeier and wife Anna of Grove City, Ohio; David (Oscar) Sultemeier and wife Lisa of Marble Falls; Doren Sultemeier and wife Lisa of Jackson, Mississippi; her daughters, Karen Sultemeier of Marble Falls; Jana and husband Tom Cook of Austin; Vicki and husband Albert Schuman of Buda; Julie and husband Ealy Holland of Marble Falls; Sheri and husband Ned Cooney of Buda; Lisa and husband Joe Martin of Lafayette, California; Shelley and husband Bernhard Suppan of Round Rock; 23 grandchildren; 8 great- grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and many, many friends. Dorothy loved her God, her church, and her large extended family. She was proud of her children, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her Swedish heritage. She loved holidays, playing the piano, singing, cooking and baking, arts and crafts, reading, and watching the birds and wild creatures at her home in the country. She enjoyed giving gifts, writing letters and cards in her beautiful handwriting, and conversing with family and friends. Her greatest gift was her answer to a Godly woman's highest calling, that of being a wife and mother. For over fifty years she faithfully did all of the things that make a house a home, and filled that home with love. Visitation will be held Friday, January 21, 2005 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls. Home going service will be on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. David Smith officiating. Interment beside her husband will follow at Tobey Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons; Nathan Sultemeier, Corey Brooks, Chancey Cook, David Holland, Jonathan Sultemeier, Joseph Sultemeier, Luke Martin, and Joshua Suppan. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Lester, Steven McIntyre, Marty Pigg, and Joshua Smith. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the United Pentecostal Church of Marble Falls, PO Box 705, Marble Falls, TX 78654. God has gained an incredible woman in the Kingdom of Heaven. There will be beautiful music on piano and organ there now that Sister Sultemeier has joined The Lord's Family. Our thoughts and prayers are with David's Family members thru their time of sorrow.
