Although we never had the pleasure of meeting "Cowboy Dad", we felt as if we knew him. We enjoyed stories about his travels and adventures for many years. I know everyone will miss him and his uncanny way of looking at life.

Time will lessen the pain but the memories will never fade.

Mike and Betty,
We were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of your father. Although we had the pleasure of meeting him only that one time, he was the type person you never forget. The day spent on the Tennessee river with all of you last summer will always be a cherished memory. I wish time and distance had allowed us to visit more often.

We send our heartfelt sympathy to you and your family.

Mike,
We were so sorry to hear about your father. Although it has been several years, we remember fondly his visits to the cabin on Elk River. If we had known he was back in Decatur we certainly would have made the trip to visit. Our prayers are with you. Please let us know if there is anything we can do.

FAREWELL TO EDDIE:
Although Eddie and I met casually several years ago, it was not until this past year that we became closer friends. We spent many afternoons reminiscing about years gone by and the irony of similar roads traveled. We both felt blessed to still have "our faculties and wits" at the ages of 91 and 88. I will miss you my friend. I'll keep the Dr. Peppers cold until we meet again.

What do you say about "Cowboy Dad"? He was the life of the party, the scholar in any conversation, the flirtatious gentleman, never met a stranger, avid Aggie fan, loved to travel and enjoyed the opportunity to play "devil's advocate". Over the last year he told us many times how he enjoyed life in Alabama; how appreciative he was of the love, care, and understanding he received from Mike and Betty; and how grateful he was that they allowed him to be an independent thinker assisting only in making his wishes known. "Cowboy Dad" you were truly one in a million -- all that had the pleasure of knowing you will miss you.

Our thoughts and prayers are extended to Mike and Betty and the Hogan family. May your faith comfort you and give you peace.

Eddie Hogan was one of a kind, true Aggie, friend and sometimes advisor. We will always remember his many stops (more like a family member on a visit) to the Joe Kotch store. We are definately going to miss his smiling face.

Uncle Eddie was so proud of being an Aggie and stayed active in alumni activities well into his ninties. He would have appreciated the prominent mention of Texas A&M in this obituary. I grieve with Walter Louis, Eddie Michael, Roddey Dale and Susie. I'm glad that he, Daddy and Uncle Addy are all together again now.

Eddie was one of the best neighbors and friend that Sandy and I have ever had. We knew Eddie since 1976, and even though we didn't have that many years with Barbara, the years we had with them both were a shining example to us as to how a husband and wife should treat each other. At the time, we were a young married couple that could not have had a better example of what a marriage was all about. Eddie was always happy, but when he would begin to talk about Barbara or tell one of the many stories of the experiences they had together, you could always tell what a special relationship they had with each other by the tone in his voice and the glimmer in his eyes. And speaking of stories, I don't believe I’ve ever known a better story-teller. From how at such an early age he knew he would be marrying Barbara to the bragging he did about his grandchildren, he always had positive things to say about his relationships with family and friends. I think one of the things we will always remember about Eddie, is that whenever he would be taking one of his daily walks (and I do mean Daily), if we happened to be outside he would always take the time to stop and talk to you. Very often when Sandy was outside washing the car or helping me take care of the yard, Eddie would have to always remind me how Lucky I was to have a wife like that. You know, sometimes I believe he was flirting with her a little, haha. Many times when we went to the Post office and have to go inside to take care of something related to postage, if Eddie happened to be there, their would always be a group surrounding him listening to one of the stories related to his last trip abroad, he received so much enjoyment from these trips. It always amazed me when he asked us to pick up his mail while he was gone on one of these trips, how much mail he received from people all over the world he had gotten to know through the years. Well, I guess you can tell that Eddie had a special place in our hearts, as we know he did in yours, so also know he will be truly missed and often thought of. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with all of you who will miss him like we do.

It was a privilege to know "Cowboy Dad" through our friendship with Mike and Betty Hogan. He always had a twinkle in his eye and a witty way of looking at life. He was a humble, happy, kind hearted man who was always positive and never complained. Love is an action - and Mike and Betty, were a wonderful example as we watched them selflessly and gladly cared for him during his battle with cancer 24/7. He lived and died with dignity and grace and love. We will miss you too "Cowboy Dad".

We extend our most heart felt sympathy to the family of Eddie Hogan. Our acquaintance with Eddie comes from Aggie Hostel events. He was the "centerpiece" of this event and an inspiration to all who attended. He amazed us all with his physical condition exhibited at the Country and Ring dances. He always brought his trampoline along to keep in shape. Mr. Hogan was a true gentleman and a charismatic person who was loved and will live in the memories of all Aggie Hostel participants for the rest of our lives. God Bless Mr. Hopgan and his family.

My heart is still warm with all my memories of Mr Hogan. From Aggie Hostel and his trampoline and pictures with young ladies to his twinkling blue eyes at my wedding in Austin. I always enjoyed your postcards from your extravagant travels and your inspirational letters. You were a man who truly lived life to its fullest. To live is to see life through the eyes of Eddie Hogan. We'll all miss you.

I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Mr. Hogan but I know my daughter Heather has loved him dearly since meeting him at AggieHostel when she was a student. He must have been a really fine individual to have had such an impact on her and other students. Of course, part of that had to have been due to his being an Aggie. We wish to express our thoughts and our prayers to the family and loved ones.

Pop was definitely one of a kind! We will all treasure the memories. He loved his children, his grandchildren, and especially his one and only love, B.A. He will be remembered and will live on in the lives of his five wonderful grandsons. He was so proud of those five wonderful grandsons and always sent them postcards from his many travels. Pop, sending you best wishes and good thoughts!

Eddie was my neighbor for over 18 years, friend for almost 25 years, and my inspiration for how to live a full and active life. His love of people, of A&M, of life, and his curiosity about the world was remarkable. Right up until he moved, we shared many Sea Dragon dinners and spirited conversation. He was one of the kindest, sweetest, most intelligent and adventuresome people I've ever known, and I'll always miss him and remember him with love.

Some of my best memories of AggieHostel revolve around Eddie Hogan '37. He made me laugh more than any person I've ever met. I'll never forget his excitement when he met Miss USA and I'll always remember how many times he'd ask me to take a picture of him with "young" Aggie honeys (they could be in their 60's and he'd still love it!) He'd always remind me to take my time in focusing the camera! His sense of adventure in life inspired me. He lived life to the fullest and for that I'm grateful. That gleam in his blue eyes and his smile will always warm my heart!

We miss you, Pop! You've brightened our lives more than you know - I'll be telling stories about you for years to come. I remember you coming to our house for Christmas and Thanksgiving every year since I was a kiddo. It hasn't been the same without you!
