Emil Beckmann

Emil Beckmann Emil Edward Beckmann was born June 3, 1931, and died July 18, 2009, after fighting a long and courageous battle with cancer. Emil had the honor of being the first Klappenbach great-grandchild. Emil is predeceased by his parents, Alvin Beckmann in 1984, Eva Felps Beckmann in 2006, one son Bruce Bryan Beckmann in 1994 and his faithful companion and friend Muffin in 2008. He is survived by his wife Medora, of 51 years; a daughter-in-law, Trena Beckmann of Amarillo; a sister, Anita Smitherman and husband Joe of Blanco; and numerous nieces and nephews. Emil and Medora were married at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Blanco, Texas, on December 20, 1957. Emil graduated from Blanco High School in 1949 and entered the Army on July 14, 1954, and was honorably discharged on January 18, 1956. Emil graduated from Southwest Texas, San Marcos, Texas, with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1960. He was employed by First National Bank, San Marcos, Texas, first as a teller and later he became Vice-president of Operations until his retirement in 1980. In 1981 he worked for Cornwell Tool Company traveling the Hill Country until he retired in 1993. Emil truly enjoyed working the ranch, traveling with Medora and Muffin in their fifth-wheel and traveling portions of the United States, Canada, and Alaska on tours. The family wishes to acknowledge the long time dedication and care of Emil by Debby Pope, and is also grateful to Carol Boyd, Serenity Drum, Joe-l Massey and Chaplain Richard Vandeverter, all of Fredericksburg Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, PO Box 487, Blanco, TX 78606, Blanco Fire Department, Hill Country Hospice of Fredericksburg or a charity of your choice. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Crofts Funeral Home, Blanco. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, at Crofts Funeral Home.
