Eulalio GONZALEZ Obituary

GONZALEZ Jr., Eulalio (Lalo)

June 26, 1994-June 5, 2014

Eulalio Lopez Gonzalez, Jr., known to all his friends and loved ones as "Lalo" or "Jr.", by his family, was delivered to our Father's loving arms on Thursday, June 5th, 2014. He and his family had moved to Austin ten years ago, when Lalo was in fourth grade. Lalo is the son of Eulalio Gonzalez and Josefa Lopez Gonzalez, also of Austin. The angels gave Eulalio to his parents on June 26, 1994 in Fargo North Dakota. He attended elementary schools in Moorhead, MN, where his summers were always filled with summer sports and then, wrestling, in third grade. The family, then moved here to Austin, TX where Lalo, would forever call his home.

He flourished here as he started his piano lessons in grade school at Palm and then when he picked up the trumpet, there was no putting it down. His enthusiasm for learning was always an inspiration to others. While in middle school, vying for "first chair", was always at the top of his to do list. He attended Akins High School where again he was immediately involved in band for all four years of his high school time there. He was loved by many students and he loved many fellow students. He had several friends but they quickly became little "sisters" and "brothers" to him. The band was his life from July to January, giving of himself as if his life depended on it. He particularly would learn from who he called the best band director that ever existed, Mr. Faust. Lalo thrived with Mr. Faust and his assistant directors. His trips to competitions were always awaited with nervous discipline and playing late into the night. This band and it's members would leave a mark and lessons that he took everywhere he went, and used in his interactions with everyone he would meet.

As soon as band was over he would jump into wrestling season and if possible worked harder than in band. He trained hard and consistently with everyone at the school. Mr. Tambunga was his coach and while he won matches, his dream was always to make it to state. After graduation he attended gyms and was training under Master Ron Macedo. There he learned and had grown by leaps and bounds.

He worked at Cowboy Harley Davidson and became a quick study, got his motorcycle license and then, a Harley, who he lovingly called Gypsy. He would often comment that she was more demanding and expensive than girls, so that she would have a serious impact on his social life. Still he adapted and did to Gypsy whatever she needed and what he felt made her look her best. While he was a porter at Harley, he quickly made friends with everyone he worked with. He felt that his mentor, "Michael" and good friend "Sean" taught him so much about motorcycles, he wanted to take Gypsy with him to Iowa. All of the techs in the shops were "not mechanics" they were "motorcycle specialists who had gone to school" and knew what they were doing so that he was always learning from them. Lalo was still employed there when he left us.

Although, he was working a forty hours a week, he would not forget his high school and would volunteer as wrestling coach assistant every week with the wrestling program. Wrestling was still his first passion so much, that he wanted to attend school in Iowa where there was a good wrestling program. He had paid for his dorm already and was excited and nervous about leaving. He had been accepted there and was planning a trip to visit the university the middle of June and leave in August of 2014. His plan was to later move to Oklahoma State to finish and major in engineering. His conversations were that he wanted to give and build housing for families who could not afford housing. He had his life planned but,.... God needed another angel trumpeter in heaven. The lives he touched were many and the people who will miss him and love him are too numerous to mention.

The hardest to talk about are the family members that he left behind. He is survived by his two devastated and loving parents, Eulalio and Josie. He had a very special and unique relationship with both of his parents. His father and him enjoyed doing sport events together. He would often refer to his father as "tocayo" as his beloved son was his namesake. His special bond with his mother who he loving called "Perla" (My Pearl), and when he would walk in the door he would say, "Madre, where are you". He has left a void that will never be filled by anyone or anything. Every other Thursday he would treat his mother to a day of pampering by leaving her at a spa or taking her shopping. He also would take her out to supper and a premiere movie they both enjoyed. If he gave her money, she would spend it all on shopping for him. She considered him her gift and felt that their hearts beat at the same rhythm.

He is also survived by his three sisters who adored and cherished him, Christina Gonzalez, Andrea Gonzalez, and Deanna Gonzalez.

Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2014 at San Jose Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.

I didnt really know you as well as others did but i do know that whenever you were around there was nothing but laughter and joy. Whenever you walked into a room it just lit up I've heard so many great stories about how you were a great leader as well as trumpet player abs wrestler but most of all how you were such a loyal friend to everyone. You are such an inspiration to many people. It's hard to see you go but we will manage. You taught many people to just be themselves no matter what. Lalo Gonzalez you are a legacy. We love and miss you!
