Gary Hicks Obituary

Gary Blaine Hicks born on March 1, 1940 in Ft. Worth, Texas died peacefully in his bed on February 3, 2022. Gary is preceded in death by his mother, Vera Hicks-Mallow and father, Marshall Blaine Hicks, he is survived by his brother Jimmy Williams, 91 of San Diego, California, his nieces Cheryl D. Hooton and Traci Gaye Tomlin and nephew Scott Howard Williams.

From 1967-2005 Gary devoted his career to the students of AISD; first as a history teacher and then as a school counselor at various under resourced schools. Gary was a master carpenter and amateur architect who single handedly built his own house from the ground up. Baptized and raised in the Southern Baptist Church, Gary was a devoted Christian who dedicated much of his time to understanding Biblical scripture within the context of the earths known geological history. He loved astronomy and learning about the nature of the universe. Gary was a gentle soul who lived a simple life in service to others.
