SHINABERRY, Glenn Arden

Glenn Arden Shinaberry, age 29, of Knoxville, TN, died tragically in an automobile accident on May 25th in Dayton, Ohio. Glenn was born in Austin, but loved his life and friends in Knoxville. He is a 2003 graduate of Austin High School, a 2007 graduate of the University of Tennessee, and a 2011 graduate of the University of Dayton School of Law. Glenn's love of life was always present. When the loud, tall redhead flashed his smile and shared his humor, he brought joy to all around him. Glenn had a passion for sports and loved discussing it with his brothers. Glenn's family is so proud of his accomplishments and the amazing man he grew up to be. He will be deeply missed by his family and many close friends. Glenn is survived by his mother, Cora Shinaberry: dad, Curt Shinaberry; brother, Keith and wife Kait of Tucson; brother, Chris of Baton Rouge; grandmother, Hannah Mencer of Smethport, PA. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Glenn Mencer and grandparents, Christine and Arden Shinaberry. A memorial service will be held at Tarrytown United Methodist Church in Austin, Texas, on Saturday, May 31st at 10:00am. In honor of Glenn, dress for the service will be casual. A reception will follow immediately. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice.

I was Glenn's client about a year ago. I have disabilities from a stroke that make it difficult to communicate and walk. Glenn was always patient, kind, and understanding, and worked hard to represent me. He was a fine young man. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

To the family of Glenn, your most precious son. In the middle of May, probably a Monday, late afternoon, I was helping my son, Luke (also a young lawyer in Knoxville) move into his new apartment complex. We had Luke's apartment door wide open, as we were carrying things into his apartment. At some point a tall young good-looking man came into the doorway to introduce himself as Luke's neighbor and to offer any assistance in anyway possible. Glenn and Luke shook hands in the doorway. He also said hello to me. I remember saying to Luke "what a sweet guy"! This young, kind, friendly, confident, good looking young man that shook my sons hand was your precious son, Glenn. I just thought you would like to hear this sweet story. It touched our hearts when he did exactly what we taught our children to do...reach out and always be kind to all. Thank you for raising such a fine young man as he impressed us, leaving an indelible mark of God's own creation in our hearts. May God Bless you all with peace in knowing he is now with our Creator. Glenn was smart, kind and professional-- he always had a smile on his face. He was an excellent student and I was not surprised to learn he went on to become a well-respected lawyer. May his family and friends find peace during this difficult time.

Glenn is a name which has also meant ambassadorial:
Back in the mid 90's my son Jesse and I discovered the Travis Country basketball courts.
Curt and Cora surely selected this magnificent community to ensure their children an idyllic life outside the house as well.
Although we were interlopers- and all the players from the neighborhood knew that-Glenn was there to readily welcome us into the mix.
We played many joyful basketball games together.
This went on for years, and I am obligated to acknowledge that there became a time when Glenn would block my shots! That's cool because he was just doing his ascendent job of becoming a better person every time you would see him again.
Ten years back me and Glenn talked about my upcoming hip replacement and we both understood that I had no business running up and down the court after that.
So... Glenn organized one last game at his home court in TC with all the great players of the area.
It was a very nice evening that I'll never stop appreciating-in particular that he deigned not to block my shot that night!
Anyone who ever met Glenn could readily tell that he was the kind of person who obviously would achieve greatness. That he did so, and at such an early age, by reaching out (and a lot of times down) to others who he instinctively knew needed his help is testament to the beautiful upbringing he received from his perfect family.
Glenn has insinuated himself into all our hearts and serves as an inspiration to do good for others, too.
We love you Mr. Glenn!

May God give you...
For every storm, a rainbow,
For every tear, a smile,
For every care, a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends,
A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.

Glenn was a classmate of mine at UDSL and a very good friend to many. It was a blessing to have crossed paths with him. My condolences to the Shinaberry Family and Friends...

Though we never met you, we feel as though we know you through your mother's love and all of her joyful stories. Her love for you is evident in her eyes and smile whenever speaking of you; she is always so proud. We are deeply sorry for your family's pain, but we know they will one day find comfort in the time they had with you. We pray that soon they will be able to smile and laugh while sharing stories of their love. God bless you all during this confusing time of loss – we don't know God's plan, but pray that you find trust and peace in His will. Michael & Daphney.

Please accept our deepest sympathy on the unexpected loss of Glenn. It is a very tragic event and we want you to know that we share your grief.
Your son was a fine young man and always had such a positive influence on the people around him. His character and attitude were so uplifting and he was such a fine example for young men to emulate.
It is difficult to understand tragedies like this, but we can call on our faith to help us deal with them. We take solace in the words of the Bible that tell us that those who mourn will be blessed.
Our prayers will be for you and your family to see this through and keep strong. I know that God will shed his choicest blessings on you all.
God Bless You.
In Faith & Sympathy,
