Harlan Ihnen Harlan Ihnen retired from the Lord's service by sudden illness on May 27, 2012. A memorial service will be held at Hill Country Fellowship, 200 Houston Clinton Drive, Burnet, TX 78611, (512) 756-8796 at 6:00 p.m., on Thursday May 31. Harlan was born to Harm and Alice Ihnen on August 5, 1943, in Parker, South Dakota, graduated from Castlewood high school, and attended business school in Sioux Falls South Dakota. He married Vonda Naatjes on August 2, 1962. The couple started a family and after working as a comptroller for a bakery firm in Minneapolis, Minnesota for several years, he started his own business with his brother David Ihnen, in Brookings, South Dakota. In 1981 they sold the business and relocated to Austin Texas where he owned a series of successful businesses. He then began investing his energies in planting and growing churches in central Texas. Harlan was born again as a Christian at the age of 14. A good and faithful servant of God, despite longstanding and severe back pain, he vigorously worked at supporting and growing churches, witnessing for Christ, helping his son's business thrive, and cherishing his wife and family: His beloved wife; daughter Teresa (David) Wait, their three sons, Tavis, Jonathan, Bryan; and son Steven (Kathy) Ihnen, their daughters Erin, Ellen, and Emma. He spent winters on Lake LBJ near his son and summers in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Springtime and fall were spent travelling. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund at Hill Country Fellowship.
