Irene Escobedo Obituary

Irene Prado Escobedo, 71, passed away on September 24, 2024 in Austin, TX after a brief illness. Irene was born in Lubbock, TX to Dora and Cecil Prado on June 30, 1953. Irene is preceded in death by her mother. She is survived by her children Lisa Stevenson (Blake) of Marble Falls, TX and Marcos Botello (Tia) of Buda, TX, and eight grandchildren; her father Cecil Prado, sisters Rachel Cruz (Carlos), Irma Prado, Diana Aguilar (Juan), brothers Raul Prado (Lucy), Oscar Prado; six nieces and nephews, an uncle and two aunts, and numerous cousins, all who love her very much.

Irene grew up in Lubbock, TX graduating from Lubbock High School, she began working at Southwestern Bell. In 1979 she was transferred to Austin with her family and retired from AT&T in 2006. She loved watching all sports but especially Texas Tech and Dallas Cowboys football games.

Irene was a devout Catholic; she lived her life in service to our Lord. She became a member of Saint Catherine of Siena in 1979 and became a member of The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul in 2004. She was President of the St. Catherine of Siena Conference from October 2019 until she had to step down due to her illness.

A Rosary service and Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church on Friday, November 15, 2024 beginning at 9:30 a.m. The service will be available to livestream on the St. Catherine website. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Irene's memory to The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, St. Catherine of Siena Conference. https://stcatherine-austin.org/memorial-contribution-to-svdp.
