Jack Royal Obituary

Jack Lee Royal was born January 28, 1939 in San Antonio, Texas to Robert Clifton Royal and Elisa Gonzalez Royal. He died peacefully at home on May 25.

Jack graduated from Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio and attended Texas A&M and the University of Texas, Austin where he earned a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

In 1963 he married Judy Diessner and together they raised two daughters, Ginger and Brittany. Jack worked at a number of different engineering firms, including ARL, Tracor, Rolm, and IBM. After Judy's death in 2002, Jack married Virginia Rohlich in 2005.

Jack loved spending time with his family and friends and his kind disposition endeared him to all he met. A true engineer, he was interested in tinkering with machinery - fixing anything he could his hands on. He also was genuinely interested in people and their stories. In his younger years Jack spent many hours with his family on camping and skiing trips, working the beer tent at Aquafest, gambling in Vegas, and sharing a beer and enchiladas with his buddies at Dartbowl.

Jack was predeceased by his parents, wife Judy, and brother, Robert. He is survived by his sister Elisa Dewhirst, wife Virginia, daughters Ginger Berdoll (Mark) and Brittany Royal, grandchildren Taylor Berdoll, Jarrod Berdoll, Dana Moses (Dallas), great granddaughter Adalynn Moses. He is also survived by step daughters Madolyn Frazer (Kevin), Elizabeth Savercool, and step grandchildren Owen and August Frazer and Kaya Pinchback, and numerous in-laws and nieces and nephews.

A memorial was held June 8 at the family home.
